Bachman Custom Homes handles custom home design in-house, from the first floor plan conversation to the last light fixture. We work with architects and draftsmen such as Studio H Architects on the plans, and our own company, LD Luxury Staging & Design, handles interiors, furnishings and décor for clients who want a complete start-to-finish build.

01 / IT STARTS WITH A CONVERSATION
We start with how you live, not a stack of plans.
Bob puts it this way: "When clients first meet with us, we don't start pulling out a stack of plans. We start with a conversation." We want to know how you cook, host, work and unwind, what land you are building on, how much space you need, the style you love and the must-haves you have been collecting for years.
Our clients have built everything from cozy cottage and farmhouse homes to dark and moody interiors and clean modern lines. Recent homes lean mountain modern and modern-country, and Bob described the inspiration for The Bowers as "that beachy mountain modern type vibe."
02 / THE PLAN
Floor plans and architecture.
Finalizing the floor plan is where your home takes shape: room sizes, structural features, specialty spaces, outdoor living and storage. You can start from a blank page or from one of our floor plans, and we refine it until it fits your lot, your budget and the way you live.
We also work with architects and draftsmen we trust. We teamed with Studio H Architects on The Jane, and Rory Heggie of Studio H was the draftsman on The Cody. Studio H described The Jane's design as focused on "timeless architecture and palette with modern flow."
Good design also respects the site. On our first estate house in Valnova, the goal was to work with the land's natural slopes, views and wildlife corridors instead of flattening them.
03 / INTERIORS
Interior design with LD Luxury Staging & Design.
LD Luxury Staging & Design is our own staging and design company, led by Lisa Bachman and designer Destiny Eldred. It offers full home design, furniture and décor packages, or turnkey furnishing and staging, so a home can be finished down to the last pillow if you want it to be.
Their work is on display in our Parade homes: Lisa, Bob and Destiny Eldred designed the interiors of The Bowers in 2025, and LD Luxury Staging & Design designed and furnished The Jane and The Cody in 2026. Around here, Lisa is known for finding the coolest cabinet handles and light fixtures. Meet everyone on our team page.

04 / SELECTIONS
Your interior design appointments.
Once construction is underway, you sit down with us to choose appliances, cabinets, countertops, tile, doors, flooring, plumbing and lighting fixtures. Plan on approximately 2 to 3 days of appointments in total. Our standard specifications include up to three interior and three exterior paint colors. Want a head start? Try cabinets, counters, tile and metals together in our 3D design studio.

05 / SPECIAL SPACES
Designing the rooms other homes leave out.
Design is where the memorable rooms get planned: a hidden speakeasy with elevator access in The Cody, a wellness room with a two-person sauna in The Bowers, enclosed wine rooms, private pickleball courts and concealed rooms. If you want a room no one else needs to know about, see safe rooms & hidden spaces.

Yes. Design happens in-house at Bachman Custom Homes, and our own company, LD Luxury Staging & Design, led by Lisa Bachman and Destiny Eldred, handles interior design, furnishings and staging. For plans on larger homes we work with architects and draftsmen such as Studio H Architects.
Can you change one of your existing floor plans?

Yes. You can start with one of our plans and change room sizes, add an office, wine room or RV bay, or rework the outdoor living. We finalize those changes before the build contract is signed, so pricing reflects the plan you actually want.
How long do design selections take?

Interior design appointments happen during construction and take approximately 2 to 3 days in total. In them you choose appliances, cabinets, countertops, tile, doors, flooring, plumbing and lighting fixtures. Coming in with photos of rooms you love makes the time go further.
Do you offer furnishing and staging?

Yes. Through LD Luxury Staging & Design we offer full home design, furniture and décor packages, or turnkey furnishing and staging. It is optional, and it is how our Parade homes, including The Jane and The Cody, were furnished.
What design styles do you build?

We build in whatever style fits you. Clients have chosen cozy cottage, farmhouse, dark and moody, and modern, and many of our recent homes are mountain modern or modern-country with stone, cedar and stained wood beams. Bring photos, and we will help you turn them into a plan.
